Kwikee 28 Series Step Works In Reverse

Question:

My step motor works, step function works, but opposite direction. In w/door open, out when door closed. I removed, cleaned, regreased and reinstalled the motor. Nothing done to wiring, only removed power to motor. Why now does it work in reverse? How do I fix?

It sounds like you switched the two wires when reinstalling the motor. I contacted Kwikee and there are only two reasons they would work in reverse, the switch is wrong or the wires were switched.

If you recently upgraded the motor in your Kwikee Electric step with part # LC379145 then the door switch needs to be upgraded as well. Usually that is the reason the steps work in reverse, is someone will change out the motor but not use the switch that came with the kit. Somewhere along the line the Kwikee steps wiring design changed and If you are still using your old door switch instead of the switch that comes with the kit then the steps will work in reverse.

Heather I received the new Kwikee steps from your company , with everything installed and the new harness matching my harness from the rig but the steps work in reverse. If I install the new switch exactly where do I connect it on the harness? The wiring diagrams provided don’t show color codes so I’m lost. Thank you Allen
