The Westin grille guards and the hardware kits are both made to fit specific vehicles. You cannot swap hardware kits to fit a guard from one truck to another. The hardware kit you mentioned fits a newer truck so what you'd need is the guard part # 45-1200 for your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 for a Sportsman that fits. The correct hardware kit for this guard is the part # 40-120PK.
