Is The Maximum Load Rating Listed For A Single Tire Or Pair

Updated 08/16/2019 | Published 08/15/2019

Question:

We are looking for new tires for our pop up camper. The dry weight of the camper is 1680 lbs. The payload capacity is 747 lbs. So that makes 2427 pounds. I was looking at a 12 inch Kenda tire that has a load of 1520 lbs. Since there are two tires does that make the total weight they can hold/pull 3040 lbs. Sorry if this is a dumb question! Just making sure I have it right!

Yes, that is correct the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E part # AM10140 load capacity is per tire inflated to the recommended max PSI. However, some trailer tire manufacturers have a load capacity per pair of tires. This particular tire is rated 1,520 lbs at 80 psi per tire.
