Temporary Solution for Transporting Canoe on Toyota Prius with Naked Roof

Question:
I am borrowing a friends 2014 Prius for an upcoming trip and want to carry a canoe on top. They dont have a roof rack, and since its not my car, I dont really want to invest in buying one. Would foam blocks work on a bare prius roof for a not-particularly large canoe? What would you recommend?

As a temporary solution a foam block style carrier is a really good option to transport a single canoe on top of your friend's 2014 Toyota Prius that isn't already equipped with a roof rack. For this I specifically recommend the Malone Canoe Carrier # MPG156, which includes the foam blocks themselves that will attach to the gunwale on the canoe and sit right on the Prius' naked roof, along with all the necessary tie-down straps. Just be sure to clean your buddy's roof before mounting the foam blocks so you don't leave behind any scratches.
This setup is good for a canoe that weighs as much as 110 pounds. I have attached a short video review on this kit along with the written install manual that you can check out as well.
