How Tight Should LockRack Crossbar Adapters Get Tightened
Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/14/2024 >
Question:
What are the guidelines for how snug you can tighten these? My Rav4 OEM crossbars result in a gap when the LR53FR fasteners are considerably snugged up. At that point I can slide them across the bar using some force. My question is, if I keep tightening, even closing the gap, will that break them or weaken them enough to break eventually?

Hey Ken, this is a good question but there isn't a torque spec or specific tightness recommendation needed for the LockRack crossbar adapters # LR53FR that you referenced. You would need to go with hand tight with appropriate sized hand tools.

Hey Ken, how did things go tightening the LockRack crossbar adapters on your Rav4? Were you able to get them snug enough without closing the gap too much? Your update could make it easier for the next person working with these adapters.
