Hi, I am trying to determine what parts I will need to flat tow my 2000 Chev Suburaban 5000 lbs. I do desire to tow at roughly 55mph. I am having a difficult time determining what equipment I need on the tow vehicle to attach connect to the tow bar. The tow bar that I have appears to have the same connection ends as your reese. models. Thank you

There are several components you will need to flat tow your 2000 Chevy Suburban. But before we get into that you should check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if there are any restrictions on your vehicle being flat-towed.

If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle you would be good to go, if you have a 2 wheel drive vehicle you would need to install a lube pump from my research. If your vehicle is all wheel drive then you would need to borrow or rent a trailer as there is no option for flat towing your vehicle.

The first thing you are going to need is a set of base plates for your vehicle. For that I recommend you get Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 131-17. Now since you have a Reese tow bar you will need the Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter # RM-025 to adapt to the Roadmaster base plates.

Next, you will need a set of quick disconnects # RM-201. These are required with the # RM-025.

Now you will need some safety cables if you do not have some already. I recommend coiled safety cables like our # RM-643.

If you do have the Tow Ready Tow Bar # 63180 you would be limited to 45 miles per hour as the top speed. You would not be able to go 55 mph like you said you were interested in doing.
