Will the Derale 25-Row Stacked-Plate Cooler Fit a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500

Updated 07/16/2019 | Published 07/15/2019

Question:

Hi, I know the answer has been given a hundred times. I want a bigger better cooler for pulling my 24 ft camper. The cooler I’m sure would help with the 5 hours pulling and my stock cooler is tiny. Will the 52506 fit? Can the lines be facing the bottom when mounted? I would also like to not cut and flare the stock lines and good high temp line also.. I want the most cooling with out using a fan. I want to mount it in front of the radiator in place of the old stock cooler. The stacked plate I’m told is the best for cooling????? Thank you for any help.

The stacked-plate transmission coolers like the Derale 25-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler with -6 AN Fittings part # D52506 do offer superior cooling power when compared to plate-fin and tube-fin designs. However, they are also much thicker at 2" which means you will need to make sure you have this much depth in addition to the length and height of 13" wide x 9-3/16" tall. There should be plenty of space behind your grille for this cooler so I don't think you will have any issues. If you use the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting part # D13035, you won't have to do any flaring.

In order to complete your install you will also need the following:

Derale -6 AN Female Swivel part # D98200
Derale High-Temperature Replacement Hose part # D13016
Bracket Kit for Derale High Performance Stacked-Plate Coolers part # D50020
Derale Stainless Steel Hose Clamps part # D13008
