Question:
When I plug my protector to my home outlet only the first yellow light comes on..but when I connect to the camper both yellow lights are on. Is that normal?

I attached a picture that has the lighting codes of the Camco RV Power Defender, part # CAM55312 explained. Two yellows mean correct wiring, one yellow most likely means you have an open ground on the outlet at your house. Is there another outlet you can try to verify if the outlet is the problem.
