New Trailer Light Kit Not Working with 2 Vehicles
Updated 07/01/2019 | Published 06/29/2019 >
Question:
Hi I just installed this light kit on a utility trailer and I cannot get any of the lights to light up. I’m fairly sure everything was connected correctly. I tried connecting to two different cars that I know work and that I tow with frequently. A 2011 Nissan Xterra and a 2018 Nissan Frontier. Not sure if this a bad unit or maybe is not compatible with my trucks.

Since none of the lights of the light kit # TL29BK work I'm guessing the problem is with the white ground wire. Make sure it's grounded to a clean, bare metal surface on the trailer's steel frame. If your trailer has an aluminum frame then you need to run a wire from the connector's white wire back to the mounting studs of each light in order to get a good ground.
As far as wiring goes the wires are green for right turn and brake lights, yellow for left turn and brake lights and then there's a brown wire for the running lights down each side.
