Troubleshooting Curt Weight Distribution that Makes Loud Scream Around Corners
Updated 06/26/2019 | Published 06/25/2019 >
Question:
Hello, I just purchased a brand new No Boundries 16.5 travel trailer this past weekend. IT came with the new Curt weight distribution bars on the hitch. I hadnt had any problems with them until yesterday when they started making an extreamly loud creaking noise everytime I needed to take a turn. I removed the sway bar off, and I was still getting the same noise. It turns out that its the weight distribution bars that are screaming. I understand a little bit of noise, but this is noise that will literately wake the dead up because its so loud. Is there somehint I can do to stop all the noise? Do the ends of the weight bars that go into the sockets need to be greased?

Weight distribution systems are prone to making some odd noises, but a sound that would wake that dead is probably on the higher than normal side of things. The lift brackets of the Curt kit part # C17500 that you referenced can be greased and you can grease the zerk fittings on the bar holders of the head but beyond that Curt does not recommend greasing any of the other moving parts as the friction there is part of the sway control.
Best option is take all of the moving parts apart as much as possible and clean out every and reassemble. Hopefully that will take out the sound but let me know if not and we can work on other solutions.
