Installing Buyers EZ Gate Tailgate Assist on Trailer with Standup Brace at Drill Location

Question:
It ends up at a standup brace, and I cant get the nut on the I bolt, Do I move it forward or back about an inch or a little more to get the nut on ? I think forward enough to make it work, am I correct.

When installing the Buyers Products EZ Gate Tailgate Assist # 3375201000 on your trailer you will want to drill the first 1/2 inch hole 90 inches from the rear of the trailer. If this isn't possible then you will want to move this hole rearward (so that it's 89 or 88 inches from the rear of the trailer). This will still allow the Lift Assist to function properly.
You would not want to move further toward the front of the trailer.
