It looks like there is a pivot pin, what is that for? Can you do a demo of it?

The pin on the Swagman X Mount Bike Carrier Storage Rack - Wall Mount - 2" Racks # S80940 is used to keep the shank of the rack in either the outward position or folded inwards as a way to save space. If you take a look at the accompanying photo I added you can see the pin in both positions.
