Question:
How should I mount my axle on leaf springs when there is a bolt head right in the center of the springs? Should I drill a holes in the axle so it rests on the springs or balance it on top of the bolt?

Great question!
When installing leaf springs that have a stack with a bolt in the middle, like the 3,500 lbs Axle # e54SR, you will actually be installing them using a Spring Seat # TRSS238 which welds on to your trailer axle and gives you the support needed as well as a hole in the middle where that center bolt goes through.
