The correct replacement mounting hardware for your Yakima ButtonDown 6 Ski Carrier is the part # 8830021. This is a direct replacement and will allow your carrier to fit round or square crossbars.
If you want to be able to use the carrier on wider aero-style bars you would just need to add the Universal MightyMounts # Y03590. I verified with my contact at Yakima that these adapters are compatible with your ButtonDown and will allow you to secure it crossbars that are up to 4 inches wide.
The Yakima Mounting Hardware # Y8860078 that you mentioned is designed specifically for the FatCat ski carriers and won't work on your ButtonDown 6.
