Should I be able to pull the pin? I cant for the life of me pull it out.

It sounds like you are saying that the breakaway pin is stuck inside the switch. If that is the case then yes, you should be able to pull this by hand though they do take a bit of force to remove but it sounds like you may be exceeding that. If the pin will not come out then it may be stuck or someone may have tried to install the wrong pin into the switch. If that is the case then it would be best to replace the two as this is not really a component that you want to leave up to chance when the time comes that it's needed. They are also super easy to change out because all you need to do is make a few wire connections and then mount the switch. I recommend the Fastway Zip Trailer Breakaway Switch with Coiled Cable part # FA80-00-2040 as they are pretty much all universal.
