Question:
I need brakes for my 2003 dutchmen travel trailer model 28bh-ssl. Is there a part number on the back plate i can look at? Or markings on the axle? Thank you

There are not normally markings on the brake assemblies themselves to tell you what size you need; however, there is a way to find out which size brake assemblies you need. You want to measure your hub diameter and depth using the diagram I have attached. You also want to find out if the trailer has electric or hydraulic brake assemblies.
To find out which capacity of brake you need you want to check the axle for the axle capacity which is normally stamped into the metal or on a sticker.
From my research the gross weight of the 2003 Dutchmen travel trailer model 28BH-SSL is 7,594 lbs.
With that being said, the Dutchmen could either have 2 axles that are 3500 lb capacity or 2 axles that are 4400 lb capacity. It more than likely has 3500 lb axles with 10 inch electric brakes which is the most common. If that is the case, I recommend etrailer.com electric trailer brakes 10 inch part # AKEBRK-35-SA.
If it turns out the Dutchmen has 4400 lb axles, I recommend Dexter Nev-R-Adjust part # K23-478-479.
