Resetting Old Atwood ProTECHtor Propane Detector

Updated 07/22/2020 | Published 05/03/2019

Question:

Protechtor series 2001. The red light stays on. Need to know how to get the light back to green. Also where is the test button. Can I reset it by unlocking the RV battery cables and after like 15 seconds reattach them and it will reset the green light? Thanks

The "Test" button on the Atwood ProTECHtor Series 2001 propane detector is on the left, as you can see by the accompanying photo that a customer sent in. Red is an alarm mode that should not be ignored, though in regards to resetting the unit, just press and hold the "Test" button as opposed to removing its power completely.

The ProTECHtor you have is just a propane detector so you may want to upgrade to a newer, safer, dual propane/carbon monoxide detector, the Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector # AT36681.

I've added a link to a video review of this detector for you to take a look at.

If you're sure you don't actually have a propane leak, then the detector either just needs to be replaced or for some reason the power source is bad.
