Question:

I just bought a Roadmaster tow bar bracket for my 2018 Chevy Equinox through Etrailer. I also purchased a seat bracket, a pressure reducer and some other things for the Roadmaster Brakemaster 9160 that Im moving to the Equinox from my previous towed vehicle at 2005 Saturn Vue. On the Vue, it was easy to get the air line and the wire for the brake sense line through the firewall. I had hoped to run along the hood release cable to do the same on the Equinox but Im having no luck. Is there somewhere else that I an get through the firewall on the Equinox? I have the rest of the system and the tow bar bracket installed and would like to finish this job. Thanks for your help.

There is not a specific area in a 2018 Chevy Equinox to get through the firewall that we have been made aware of. I took a look at the directions for installing the Roadmaster BrakeMaster System # RM-9160 with the RoadMaster Second Vehicle Kit for BrakeMaster Systems # RM-98100 and the directions only state "if there is no pre-existing hole or grommet with sufficent space, drill a 1/2" hole through the firewall."

What you are experiencing is not particularly unusual and the only solution is going to be to drill your own 1/2" hole. I can completely understand wanting to avoid that though it will be necessary if you cannot find a way to otherwise install the air line.
