Solera Gas Strut Installation When Compression is Needed to Fit Mounting Locations
Updated 04/26/2019 | Published 04/25/2019 >
Question:
Hello. I received a 24” gas strut. I was going to install. The one on my awning is extended 22”-22and1/2 when open. It lost the gas I suppose. Is the 24” too long or how do I squeeze it to fit the holes? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Solera Gas Strut, 124 to 144 lbs for Pitched Awning Arms # LC260282 is likely exactly what you need. To compress it to fit the holes, I recommend attaching one end of the strut and that will allow you the leverage to start to compress the strut so it can fit the other attachment location.
