Question:
I have a 2006 coachman clipper 106 sport pop-up camper with a dexter easy lube axle, 12 inch wheels with 4 on 4 lugs, axle already has the flange for brakes. inner and outer bearings are L44649 and seal has inner dia. of 1.5. Are the AKEBRK-2 brake assembly and the 8-173-16UC3-EZ brake hub the correct choice for installing on this set up. Plus are the features on the Curt 51140 brake controller the same as the 51130 controller.

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 and the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-173-16UC3-EZ are correct for your pop-up camper based on the information that you provided. The braking assemblies do not come with the lock nuts and washers so you can obtain these using the Mounting Hardware Kit part # BRKH7. In order to complete your setup you will also want to use the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # HS381-9000.
The main difference between the Curt Reflex Trailer Brake Controller part C51130 and the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV is that the TriFlex has a triple-axis accelerometer with nine boost settings and the Reflex has a dual-axis accelerometer with four boost settings. The triple-axis accelerometer is going to provide more uniform braking than the dual-axis accelerometer and the extra boost settings are going to allow you to really fine tune the braking power output to your exact load. Therefore, the Curt TriFlex is the better option for you.
