E trailer did a fantastic job. Before order: Technical support / help was excellent. Goal, conversion of a 1998 Floe snowmobile trailer from surge to electric brakes. Problem, due to time and corrosion, I could only supply partial part numbers, spindle diameter. etrailer did a fantastic job, researching, and getting me the correct part numbers, so I could order. Julie did a great job. She was very timely, communicated clearly and honestly, and just “kept me in the loop”. I received the order came on the projected date, complete and undamaged. Excellent. I would highly recommend etrailer, for your part needs. 438927

  • Wiring for Curt Echo Mobile Wireless Brake Controller and Adding Electric Brakes to a Trailer
The Curt Echo Brake Controller part # C51180 is a great choice because of its convenient and simple installation. The 7-way connector that you mention part # A10-7084VP pugs into the 4-way connector you purchased part # C56217. The white wire from the 7-way plug needs to be grounded to a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle's frame. You are correct, the black wire from the 7-way connector needs to be extended from the plug into the engine cavity and to a 40 amp circuit part # 9510...

Buongiorno! We do carry Replacement Magnet Kit for 7" Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies - 2,000 lbs Item # AKBRKR-M7. However, it looks like the center mounting hole on yours is round, whereas ours uses a square/rectangular hole. It doesn't appear that the hole on the # AKBRKR-M7 is large enough to allow the arm (on the brake assembly) to fit through. If you scroll to about the 5:40 min mark on the Redline Replacement Magnet Kit video Iinked below, you'll see the arm I'm referring...

  • Trailer Axle That is 60" Hub Face to Hub Face With Hub and Drum and Brakes
There are trailer axle that have a 60" hub face to hub face measurement, as well as a hub and drum that will work, but none with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. That bolt pattern is only for larger capacity axles/hubs so the largest available for this axle, which has a 2,000 lb rating, is a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. What you need would be the following: - Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs # T20BTR-6048 - Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer...

  • Changing From Hydraulic to Electric Trailer Brakes on Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle
I took a look at the specs of your 1998 Jayco Eagle 12UDST, and it looks like this is a single axle trailer with a 2,000 lb axle. That means you likely have a 7" hub and drum like the Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-257-5UC3-EZ, though you will want to confirm that by measuring the inside diameter of the hub. The Dexter # 23-47-48 and etrailer # AKEBRK-2 brake assemblies are just that. The same part made by two different companies. They're both 7 inch brake assemblies for 2,000 pound axles. Both the left and right hand brakes are included and labeled to make it easier to install. The etrailer brand does include the mounting bolts where the Dexter does not. For mounting bolts use # 7-75. Neither of them include the Mounting Hardware # BRKH7.

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to Trailer
The linked article gives you a recap of what is needed to add brakes to a trailer. Since your trailer's 2200-lb axle already has brake flanges installed, adding brakes to it will require you to select left- and right-hand brake assemblies and hubs/drums to replace your idler hubs. The new hubs have to use the same inner and outer bearing as your old hubs to ensure they will fit on your existing spindles. Check the mounting bolt pattern on the flanges to ensure they match the 4-bolt pattern...

So for the 2,200 lb axle that measures 72" hub face to hub face & spring seat to spring seat, brake mounting flange, hubs, and electric brakes, these are the exact parts you need. - Dexter Trailer Idler Axle Beam with...

  • Recommended 7" Trailer Brake Assembly for 3500-lbs Axle
Trailer brakes come in 3 general sizes- 7", 10" and 12" and are generally determined by the axle capacity on your trailer. Typically a 3500-lbs axle would have 10" brakes on them, but it sounds like you've actually got 7" brakes; if you've got existing brakes I do recommend checking their size (it sounds like you likely don't in this case) and making sure that you've got brake mounting flanges on the axle if you don't have existing brakes. For 7" brakes I do recommend the # AKEBRK-2,...

For example, the aforementioned drum is 7" x 1-1/4". You will...

  • What Size Trailer Brakes for 3500-lbs Axle With 13 Wheels
It's really going to come down to the size of the drums that you've got on those axles; there are exceptions to some rules but generally speaking 13 inch trailer wheels will work with 10 inch hub and drums, just not disc brakes. Your wheels might be manufactured differently than most and there isn't a clearance issue like on most, so it's most likely that you have 3500-lbs brakes that are for 10" drums. For 10" hub/drums, the # AKEBRK-35-SA are the best choice for self adjusting brakes....
