Solution for Base Plate Tabs on Vehicle That Are 6 Inches Lower than Hitch Receiver on RV
Updated 04/23/2019 | Published 04/21/2019 >
Question:
Hi, I purchased a Falcon 2 towbar and baseplate from you, and everything is great. Except that the baseplate is about 6 inches lower than the hitch on the RV. Everything connects perfectly, but I wasn’t sure as to how safe that was. Any thoughts?

When hooking your vehicle up to the RV you want the tow bar to be in what is called the "Safe Zone", which is 3 inches above or below level (see attached image). With base plate tabs that are 6 inches below the hitch on your RV you will just want to add a high-low adapter to get the tow bar back into this zone. Because of the difference in height between RVs and standard passenger vehicles these adapters are needed more often than not.
The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-076 should work perfectly for your setup as it features a 6 inch drop (or rise) to allow the tow bar to sit level when hooked up. It has a 6,000 pound towing weight capacity. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
