Determining Old Weight Distribution System Manufacturer and Replacement Part Options

Question:

I have a old style Reeves hitch.is it possible to remove the bracket on the spring bars and install a u bolt with chain that hooks up on the chain tension brackets that are mounted on the the camper tongue. Do away with the saddle brackets.

It does look like an old style Reese system. We have seen a few of these and they are similar to the newer version # RP66084. The part pictured has been replaced with the newer dual cam system yet they function in a very similar way. They no longer make that system, so I recommend upgrading to the newer system if you need replacement parts as those parts are no longer available.

Yes. you can use the uplift bracket you have or use # RP6637 or # RP58305 and then use the Reese Replacement Chain Kit for Uplift Bracket for Weight Distribution # 55630 on each bar. This will give you a basic weight distribution system rated for the same capacity as the system was with the brackets but you will lose the sway control.
