Question:

Hello, Can these light be used on extended cargo without a trailer? I saw a video on youtube that attached the white ground wire to a trailer. Is that a requirement or can you just plug up the 4 pin connector to your truck and fasten the tail lights temporarily to extending cargo? Thank you

Optronics LED Combination Tail Light Kit # TLL9RK has lights that use a separate white ground wire that normally would ground to the trailer. Then the trailer 4-pole wiring would in turn carry that ground back to the tow vehicle via its 4-pole wiring. One way or another these lights' ground must connect to the vehicle's ground.

There is an easier solution for temporary lighting, a portable LED light kit like # TLL21RK. This kit includes two magnetic-base lights with a prewired 4-pole with a ground connection that can just plug in to the tow vehicle.

The powerful magnets will grip any ferrous metal surface but if you want them, for example, to sit on top of a large piece of furniture you could simply use a few bungee cords like # 348509 or one of the similar cords on the linked page.
