7-Way Trailer Connector for 2004 Jeep Liberty with 4-Way Connector

Updated 03/27/2019 | Published 03/25/2019

Question:

I have a 2004 jeep liberty without towing package. They had a recall a few years back causing them to install a frame mounted towing receiver hence I installed a simple 4 pin harness for light towing Not sure of model # from you 2amp or 4amp. However I am looking for the more versatile 7 pin connector since my purchase of boat which is also a seven pinand the higher voltage, brakes, etc. I would use the truck most of the time for the boat, but the few times we camp, the Mrs. would need to tow the boatYikes!. Thanks for the help.

Since your 2004 Jeep Liberty already has a 4-Way you just need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 for a fully functioning 7-Way. This comes with all of the wiring and parts needed to give you 12V power and brake controller power at the rear of your Jeep Liberty. You can use the No-Drill Bracket # C57202 to keep the 7-Way/4-Way connector right by your hitch receiver.

If the brake controller in your truck is integrated or you would rather avoid removing it just to move your boat trailer then I recommend installing the simple yet effective Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller # C84VV with the Wiring Adapter # C51515 in your Jeep.

Should you already have a brake controller in your pickup that you'd like to swap between vehicles just let me know what it is and I can see if we have an adapter so you can easily switch the controller between vehicles.

Attached is an installation video of the ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2008 Liberty that you can reference as well as a review video of the Discovery on a Jeep for you to check out.
