5th Wheel Towing Capacity of 2017 Nissan Titan XD

Question:
I see that Demco has an adapter for the Titan XD that is basically mounting rails for a 5th wheel slicing hitch. It lists a capacity of 21K. In a different question on here, the answer specifically said that it would increase the trucks towing capacity if you’re towing with one of these adapters. If the GCWR is 17,700 on my XD, how can anything allow me to tow a 21k trailer? What am I missing? Even the OEM nissan gooseneck adapter’s webpage claims to increase the trucks towing capacity. I appreciate your time.

I apologize for the confusion. In Jason's answer you found he said the capacity is 21k but he was referring to the Demco components having an overall capacity of 21k. You are still limited by the capacity of the truck which in your case is 17,700 lbs.
Now I can't really speak on Nissan's behalf but that is an odd statement they made on the picture you sent in. It sounds like they are referring to the fact that the fifth wheel towing capacity is higher than bumper pull trailer towing capacity so when you are using this adapter you can carry the heavier trailer style.
Nothing will give you beyond your 17.7k towing capacity but you can utilize the full towing capacity if you use the fifth wheel adapter part # DM6200 with the automatic sliding 18 Hijacker part # DM8550034.
