Recommended Tires to Replace 7.00-15LT Tires on Airstream Trailer
Published 03/21/2019 >
Question:
I own a Airstream trailer, I have owned it for over 35 yrs. I brought it used the trailer always had 700x15 Lt tires. I would like to replace them do to the age I know they are over 12 yrs. old. I always kept covers on them and used a product called Sun Shade to help preserve them. I was thinking about the ST brand, however in reading reviews it seems a lot of people are having problems with blow outs with these tires and the tires are only a year or two more old, plus they only have a speed rating of 65 mph most of the main roads like the turnpike are 70 mph. I never had a blow out with the LTs . Can you recommend a tire that I can use? Thanks ,

When an ST trailer tire blows it is typically the result of the user overloading the trailer (which overloads the tires), damaging them by hitting curbs and potholes, not running them at the psi rating on the sidewall, or exceeding the speed rating. If you stay within the capacities of your trailer tires they should wear at an even pace. The average lifespan really depends on how much you use them and how loaded they are. Since you have managed to keep the same tires for 12 years it sounds like you know how to take care of them.
For your application I recommend going with the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10303 to replace your 7.00-15 size tires as they are about the same size (they will be slightly smaller). These have a load range E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi) and a speed rating of 81 mph.
Attached is a review video for you to check out. If you are looking to replace your wheels as well just let me know what your bolt pattern is and I can recommend a combination that includes this tire.
