Question:
I’m looking to get a new set of tires for my 2007 Jayco 20bh. The GVWR of this trailer is 6,000 pounds. After calling around, the only questions I still have is what ply to choose. My two options have been a 6-ply and an 8-ply. What do you say? Thanks, I always appreciate the help you provide. Best,

Ply rating isn't really as relevant as just going with a tire that has more weight capacity than the trailer will weight. That's an easier way to pick out the correct size. If we use the wheel and tire part # TA43RR that you referenced as an example this would have the needed weight capacity. With four of these you'd have a capacity of 6,640 lbs which is more than the capacity of 6,000 lbs that you need. These are 6 ply tires.
Looking at another option, the part # AM31994 is same tire size and has a wheel with the same bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch but has a weight capacity of 1,610 lbs. It would give you an overall capacity of 6,440 lbs, which is a little less than the # TTWA13RWS, but still plenty for your needed 6000 lbs. This happens to be an 8 ply and the previous tire mentioned a 6 ply.
Both of these tires have a speed rating of 81 mph.
If you have a different tire size let me know what you have and I'll see what would be the best option.
