Question:

The Riderite vehicle fit checker says there is not an air spring kit that fits the 2001Tundra 4x4 TRD. You guys show the F2245 as working with any Tundra of my vintage. As far as I know the TRD was just Bilstein shocks, but there is apparently something that they feel is not compatible. Does the kit you sell work with the 2001 4x4 Tundra TRD? Is it a custom kit made just for etrailer?

I do have an option for you but I checked with Firestone and you are correct in that they do not list the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2245 as a fit for your 2001 Toyota Tundra TRD 4x4. I also checked with Air Lift and they do not offer any airbags for your vehicle either therefore I recommend taking a look at either the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORTUN4 or the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-610-47.

The Timbrens and SumoSprings and both excellent options for you that will work to provide additional support for towing or hauling. However, the Timbrens are made of a much denser material than the SumoSprings so they will provide more support but this means they will also tend to produce a harsher ride. Therefore, if you will be towing/hauling heavy loads with your truck frequently then the Timbrens may be best for you but if you will only be towing or hauling occasionally then the SumoSprings will be a better option.

The advantage that the Timbrens and SumoSprings have over airbags is that they are very easy to install and they require no maintenance. Once you remove the factory u-bolt it will need to be torqued back down to 74 ft-lbs. I have attached an install video on each option for you.
