Expert Reply:
If you just installed a new Curt T-Connector # C56225 on your Nissan Xterra but you are still having issues with the lights on your trailer, then the issue is most likely on your trailer side. You can verify this by checking the 4-Way functions with a tester like part # PTW2993. This unit is grounded through the OEM wiring on your vehicle.
To test the wiring on your trailer, take a 12V battery, like what you have in your Xterra, and ground the negative terminal while using the positive terminal to test each function. Once you isolate which function isn't working properly check the grounds for the lights on that function. If those look good the next step is to trace the wiring from the light(s) to the trailer connector and replace any sections that are bent or damaged.
If this doesn't fix your issue just let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further. I have also linked a helpful article on troubleshooting wiring for you to check out.
