The best way to select replacement special trailer tires to help avoid blowouts is to choose tires with the highest available weight load range and speed ratings. Trailer tires in any given size are offered in more than one weight capacity and more than one speed rating. Overloading a trailer tire or operating it too fast both lead to excessive heat and this heat is the root cause of most tire failures.

If you can take a look at one of your tires' sidewalls to find its metric size designation, such as ST205/75-15 (among the most popular sizes), you can use the linked page to see all of our tires in that size. Just click on your tire size in the margin and you'll see all of our tire brands and models in your size.

For the above example tire size ST205/75-15 we have tires in three weight load ranges, B, C and D. The highest-capacity D-rated tires can each handle up to 2150-lbs. Among these the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # TR20515D has a weight rating of 2,150 -lbs at 65 psi and a speed rating of 81-mph (speed code M). The Westlake tire # LHWL300 has the same weight rating but it is rated for 75-mph (speed code L).

It is important to always keep your trailer tires inflated to their maximum cold psi pressure, as noted right on the tire sidewall. Over- or under-inflation also leads to excess heat so always start your travel day with a check of the cold pressure to ensure it is on spec.
