Question:
Im looking for a hitch to install on my travel trailer so I can tow a jetski. Any recommendations? Also is anyone familiar with CA laws to see if I can double tow? CHP says its fine but Im still weary.

We offer RV hitches that are suitable for installation on your Coachmen Viking 17RD travel trailer. For towing you'll need a frame-mount type hitch which will give you the highest towing capacity for your jet ski trailer.
The linked page displays all adjustable frame-mount RV hitches which include both bolt-on and weld-on types. Curt offers items # C13701 and # C13702 and these both fit RV frame widths from 18- to 51-inches. They differ only in terms of receiver height; part # C13701 has 2-inches of drop in its receiver height while # C13702 does not. One of these will offer a better match to the height of your jet ski trailer. You want the hitched trailer to be level for best towing. The linked article concerning ball mounts will help you choose the right one to keep the trailer level.
You'll want to check with Coachmen (using your trailer's VIN) to confirm that they have no safety concerns about installing a frame-mount hitch on your specific trailer. They should also be able to confirm whether the trailer has a rated towing capacity to allow tandem towing of your jet ski trailer.
State and County laws vary and they can change without advance notice so I recommend checking with authorities in the areas where you will be traveling.
