Recommended Axle Mounting Hardware for Square Axle

Question:

2 1/2 in. square axle. What mounting hardware ie. u-bolts, plates should I use to attach 2 1/2 in. square axles to 1 3/4 in. wide 5 spring leaf springs? The trailer had 2 in. u-bolts around the springs with a plate on top of the axle the springs are under the axle. Doesn’t seem right and different than anything I have seen.

It sounds like the axles were attached with 2 inch U-bolts that are 1/2 inch diameter which are a standard size so it sounds like the axles are compatible with a standard U-bolt kit like the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 2" Square Trailer Axles - 4-1/2" Long U-Bolts - Zinc # CE23103. If this is the case, that is my recommendation. This will work well with 1-3/4 inch wide leaf springs.

If I misunderstood and the 2 inch U-bolts were bent out to fit a 2-1/2 inch wide square axle, then I recommend seeking square u-bolts and a plate with the spring hole to fit that custom axle but unfortunately we don't have anything compatible if that is what you were seeking.
