Front and Rear Hitches for 2018 Toyota Tacoma 4WD

Published 01/31/2019

Question:

Looking for a rear tow hitch for my 2018 Taco 4WD and I'm also considering a front-mount hitch too since my brother in law just gave me his old hitch-mount snow plow.

The rear-mount trailer hitch I recommend for your 2018 Tacoma is the Curt # C13264 which offers a substantial 6K towing capacity and 1050-lb tongue weight rating. This hitch is a simple no-drill bolt on install as shown in the linked video and the photo shows the clean appearance. It is a perfect match for the Taco's 6400-lb towing capacity.

If you need 4-pole trailer wiring order part # C56349 or for 7-way wiring order part # 22117. Both plug in at your Taco's taillights.

For a front hitch to allow you to use the snow plow I recommend the Curt # C31075 since it has a higher 500-lb tongue weight rating which is very important for using a plow. The plow's weight will extend out far enough forward of the hitch to apply significant leverage on the front hitch and so you definitely want the higher-rated option. An install video for this is included too.

If you find that the front end of the Taco sags from the weight of the plow you can correct for this by installing the front-axle jounce spring kit # TTOFTUN4 which is designed exactly for applications like plowing. This no-drill kit bolts on and requires no maintenance once installed. It will prevent the plow from causing the Taco to nose-dive.
