Updated 08/01/2025 | Published 01/24/2022

Question:

Hi, I have a 10+ year old Thule box where the rubber encasing the metal of the grips has started to crack and come off. I want to know if I can replace just the rubber or do I need to replace the four grips? Is it possible to replace them? Is this the item? Expert Reply:

You can't just replace the rubber pieces you will need to replace the entire clamp. Which clamp you need depends on which Thule box you have. If your box is the Thule Pulse Alpine (613), Pulse Medium (614), or Pulse Large (615) you will want the Replacement Fast Grip Clamp for Thule Pulse Rooftop Cargo Boxes item # TH94JV you referenced.

If your Thule box is one of the Ascent (TH602, TH603, TH604, and TH605)

Atlantis (TH685, TH685BXT, TH685XT, TH686, TH686BXT, TH686XT, TH686B, TH687, TH687BXT, TH687XT, TH687B, TH688, TH688BXT, TH688XT, and TH688B)

Force (TH623, TH624, TH625, TH626, and TH628) you will want the Replacement Quick Grip Mount Assembly - Thule Ascent, Atlantis, and Force Cargo Box item # TH05738.

I have Thule Boxter 611 and one of the clamps got stuck tight against the crossbar, causing the turning knob screwed and separated. Basically I’m unable to remove the cargo box from the cross bars at all. Is there any trick to free the stuck clump other than taking the entire crossbar assembly off the vehicle? Thank you Mr expert!!!

@Thule6 No, I am sorry there is not. You'll need to remove the crossbar and loosen or cut off on side of the clamps to slide the cargo box off. Part number THS14671 is the replacement clamp you'll need. We do not carry it.
