Question:
Someone posed a question on flat towing a 2009 Aveo and your reply was YES. I have a 2009 Aveo manual 5 speed. I can buy the tow bar, base plates, etc for use in flat towing. I read one posting on the internet, that the guy just let the car run while towing, just to make sure any fluids were circulated. My question is this - having a manual transmission able to be put in neutral so it is freewheeling can it be flat towed behind my motor home without damaging anything? I cant find any free wheeling hubs to put on the car, which would surely take care of any problems.

According to my research, you should not have any issues flat-towing your 2009 Chevrolet Aveo w/ manual transmission, but it is always best to consult your owners manual or Chevrolet dealer for additional parts and procedures or restrictions on flat-towing your Aveo.
To complete your towing setup, you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety chains, lighting, and a supplemental brake system.
If your Aveo does not have foglights, you will need Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 3158-1. If your Aveo does have foglights, we have the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX1688.
The item you selected, RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, part # RM-020, would be a good option for a tow bar. To connect to the Roadmaster base plates, you will need to use Quick Disconnect Kit, part # RM-201.
The Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643, will keep your Aveo attached to your motor home if your tow bar were to disconnect from the hitch ball.
For lighting, you could use the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, part # RM-2120, which would be good if you do not tow often. If you plan to tow your Aveo often, I would recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154, which is a more permanent solution.
Most states require using a supplemental braking system when flat-towing. I would recommend the Roadmaster Portable Braking System # RM-9400 will help you slow down faster and help reduce wear on your motor home brakes.
Again, you will need to contact your Chevrolet dealership for additional steps needed to take when flat-towing.
I have linked an FAQ on flat-towing that you may find as a good reference.
