Question:
I have a 30foot flatbed gooseneck trailer. GVWR is 23900#. It is tandem axle duals. It came with 235/80R16 tires. Is that good?....would something else be better?

For your 30 foot Gooseneck trailer with tandem axles with dual tires, the tires used depend on the load rating. The size is fine, but if they are load range E like # AM10248 rated for 3197 lbs they will work fine but they only will have a 10 ply rating and are also only rated for speeds up to 65 mph. Other manufacturers may have a higher speed rating, but the ply rating will be the same.
I'd prefer the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # PRG80235 which has a 14 ply rating and load capacity of 3,640 lbs. These are rated for speeds up to 81 mph. The higher ply rating simply means they will have a thicker sidewall so it will be a more sturdy and durable tire.
The size of tire is probably not something you really want to change but the load capacity and ply rating are important. I've attached an article to further assist.
