I can help you determine the weight rating of the axles on your 1983 Coachmen travel trailer but there are a lot of models out there and since your trailer is a pretty old model it is very possible that someone could have changed out the axles and there is no way of knowing if they actually put exact replacements on it (unless a record was kept of course).
To determine the immediate weight rating of your axles you can simply look at the GAWV (gross axle weight rating) which can be located on a tag or plate towards the tongue of your trailer. If that is worn so you can't read it then you can check your trailer axle themselves. Towards the middle of the axle there should be a tag with a weight rating on it.
If you let me know what exact model of Coachmen trailer you have I can try to look up a specific rating for you but like I said, since it is an older trailer the current axles may have a different rating than the original.
