Do Bumper Sensors of 2019 Volvo XC90 Require Recalibration After Installing Trailer Hitch Receiver?

Question:

Hi All, Just purchased a 2019 XC90 and am researching installing this hitch. The installation is straight forward with only 2 wiring harnesses requiring removal. I’m curious if once the bumper is re-installed will any recalibration for the senors be required. My previous vehicle was an Audi Q7 which did require recalibration and several days in the shop.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C53HR is a straight forward install as you stated. It does not require any recalibration of the sensors when you reinstall the bumper unless they are damaged when removing and reinstalling the bumper which would only be an issue if you physically damaged the bumper or sensors.

If you will be using this hitch for towing, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118683 which will connect to your wiring harness behind each tail light. Once installed the connector will be stored inside the trunk.

Then for a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop, 3-1/2" Rise # BWTS10033B. This ball mount will allow you to tow many trailers level. If you prefer a fixed mount hitch, I've also attached an article to help with getting the correct fit for your trailer.
