Helpful Expert Reply:
I just spoke with my contact at Curt and they informed me that the Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch part # C60713 will fit a 1998 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup with the stepside bed. The only issue you are going to run into with an in-bed hitch on a stepside is bedside clearance with a 5th wheel trailer. There should not be any issues whatsoever with a gooseneck trailer.
The only other item I recommend for your truck for pulling a gooseneck trailer is an in-bed 7-way like the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector part # 20023 which will allow for easy electrical connections.
