Question:

Wondering if you might know... I installed the kit this summer and have noticed there is a leak where the new hose connects to the OEM hose at the quick connect. The clamp from the kit use used on the old hose connecting to the quick connect on one side, and I can see it is leaking the fluid. It is almost like the hose end is mushy where the clamp is tightened down. Should I try a different quick connector or hose clamp? I dread taking the front end of my car apart again! Thanks

I definitely understand not wanting to take apart your vehicle, so I hope the hose and clamp are the issue. The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503. Based on the fact that you have a mushy end, it sounds like the hose is deteriorating and needs to either be cut back to a tighter fit location or that hose should be replaced. You most likely just need to trim back that hose and reinstall the quick connect with a hose clamp.

If you need new clamps, I recommend the Valterra Hose Clamp - Stainless Steel - 1/2" to 1-1/16" Diameter - Qty 1 # H03-0002. If you need a new section of hose # D13003. I've attached a video of this installation to help.
