Question:

If I buy an x-track and have it mounted horizontally, can I attach an e-track attachment horizontally? All the photos I see are of e-track attachments attached vertically.

CargoSmart X-Track Rails like # 3481787 are designed to allow mounting either horizontally or vertically. The rails accept compatible accessories like Dual Arm J-Hook # 3481703, Rotating J-Hook # 3481700 and CargoSmart Cam Buckle Strap # 3481768.

You can position a hook item like # 3481703 in whatever orientation you need for the particular load. You do want to make sure you position the hook or other accessory appropriately so that the load is placed on it correctly. Please refer to the linked photo of hook # 3481703.

In this vertical orientation the correct direction for the applied load is downward as noted by the green arrow. If this hook were installed in a track horizontally then it could handle a horizontal load.

When installing the tracks we recommend no fewer than 2 fasteners per linear foot per side. So 2-foot track part # 3481787 should be secured with at least 6 fasteners. Select your fasteners based on the mounting surface.
