Question:
I own a 2015 open range 316 5th wheel travel trailer. Is there a set screw on the barrel that attaches the cable to the gate valve there was on one a Vedio on you tube however I cannot locate it on mine. Do original equipment not have the set screw thus requiring replacement of the entire valve. Also how long a cable should I get for my unit if I find that is all I need

If you have a Valterra waste valve on your 2015 Open Range 316 then it should have a set screw to secure the cable that runs to the handle. I have never inspected the OEM waste valves on a trailer before but I would be surprised if there were no set screw. Should you find that you don't have one the worst case scenario would be to replace the whole waste valve with a Valterra replacement like part # TC172 that you referenced.
When it comes to the length that is totally up to you. If you prefer to keep the original location for the handle then you simply need to choose the cable that measures closes to your OEM cable. We have 3 different lengths when it comes to Valterra replacement cable and valve handles; 72" # TC72PB, 96" # TC96PB, and 120" # TC120PB. All of these work with Valterra and Bladex cables valves and come with a 1-year warranty.
