How to Tell if 2019 Ford F-250 Has Overload Spring for Picking Out RoadActive Suspension

Updated 08/27/2025 | Published 12/05/2018

Question:

I have a 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty that I think I want to install the Roadmaster Active Suspension kit on but I am not sure how to tell if I have overload springs or not?

For your 2019 Ford F-250 there are two RoadActive Suspension kits for your truck available. There's the part # RAS3611-SLHD which is intended for versions of the vehicle that do come with overload springs and there's the # RAS3611-S which does not.

Go look at the rear springs on your truck, you should see a bundle of metal springs held together with a metal band. If you see a spring on top of this that looks separate and angles up to make contact with a bracket on the frame that means you have the overload spring and would then want the part # RAS3611-SLHD. If not you'd want the part # RAS3611-S.

Just installed ras on my 2024 f-350. No matter which kit you get you must remove the overload spring to install. I’m not sure I’m happy about that change. I didn’t realize the kit just comes with a plate to replace the overload spring

@Derrick The RAS kit essentially replaces the overload spring and provides an adjustable and better performing version of it. Have you tried driving or towing with it yet? The feedback we've gotten on these kits been basically universal praise so while maybe it didn't install how you would have liked hopefully it performs good.
