Question:

Will this item affect opening the hatchback on the 2017 Subaru Outback that comes with the factory rack Not the touring model? I havent seen a video or a question clarifying this.

To determine if the Thule Pulse Alpine Roof Cargo Box part # TH613 will allow the rear hatch of your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon with factory crossbars to open will require you to take one simple measurement. You will need to measure from the center of the front crossbar back to the seam on the hatch. If that distance is greater than 55-1/4 inches this box will allow the rear door to open. We had a customer with a similar 2015 Subaru Outback tell us that the distance they have there was 51 inches which means this box would fit.

We have the Thule Pulse L part # TH615 though that would work as it only requires 46-3/8 inches of clearance. This box is a bit taller but not as long. It has more cargo carrying space too at 16 cubic feet.
