Running Power Wire for 4-Way Trailer Wiring on a 2018 Ford Escape
Updated 11/13/2018 | Published 11/12/2018 >
Question:
Hello, I have been trying to find a better location to connect the power supply wire for Ford Escape 2018, rather than running it all through from the rear to the front battery. Is there anyone who tried to use Cigar lighter socket located in trunk see the picture? It appears there is plenty of room right behind the side panel where also the fuse seems able to reside, just not sure if this socket can deliver enough current for the C56320 wiring.

I don't recommend connecting the power wire of the # C56320 to anywhere but the vehicle battery. Using the 12 volt outlet in the cargo area of your 2018 Ford Escape may not work properly. The converter needs to receive power from an isolated 12 volt circut and you really don't know if that circuit is isolated or not. There could very well be other components running off the same circuit.
If it's not an isolated circuit you could be blowing fuses over and over again.
I've linked a video from when we installed the # C56320 on an Escape. I've also linked an article on running the power wire to the battery which you might find helpful.
