Recommended 16 Inch Aluminum Wheels for Horse Trailer

Updated 04/02/2020 | Published 10/20/2018

Question:

My horse trailer has 16 wheels with a 6JJ designation. They have 8 lugs so guess that is 6.5inch Bolt circle. What aluminum wheel do you have that would work for me.

We have several 16" aluminum trailer wheels that have a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern which I have attached a list of for you below. I would just double check the bolt pattern using the attached help article to make sure they are in fact the 8 on 6-1/2" pattern as not all are. The "JJ" designation that you mentioned is the type of bead seat the wheel has but it is not really relevant when selecting replacements as the tires will be the same with or without "JJ" bead seats.

I really like the Aluminum Split Spoke Trailer Wheel part # AM22658HWT as it has a split-spoke design which is both stylish and subtle. They also have a clear coat finish and come with a lifetime warranty. For a valve stem I recommend part # AM20906 and for a center cap I recommend part # LHCS108-SI60C.

I linked our full section of 16" aluminum wheels with a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern below. I really like the look of the Lynx # LHSL513. For a tire and wheel combo the Westlake # LHAX425 will work great. The wheel itself has a 4.9" diameter pilot hole - which is standard for this size. We don't have anything with a 4-5/8" hole. As long as your wheels aren't hub centric (which would be very odd for a trailer) the pilot hole size does not matter.
