Can 8 inch Trailer Wheel Replace 12 inch Trailer Wheel
Published 10/17/2018 >
Question:
I have a boat trailer with 12inch wheels and would like the trailer to set a little lower for easier boat launches. The present wheels are galv. 5-lug. Was looking at converting to Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8inch Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range B, Item # AM30030. The trailer weighs 150-lbs and the boat weighs in at 200-lbs. Would these work and would I need to change anything on the trailer?

Since your trailer is so lightweight there wouldn't be any problem going to a smaller wheel and tire like the Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" Galvanized Wheel # AM30030 that you referenced. This would allow your trailer to sit about 2 inches lower.
