Parts to Convert Demco 18K Hitch to Ford OEM Factory Puck System

Question:

So I am upgrading my 08foot Ford f350 srw crewcab diesel, short bed to a 2015 Ford f350 dually crewcab with standard 8foot bed The 2015 has the factory 5th wheel rv puck system. And until I can sell my auto sliding hitch Id like to use it. If I change the side plates with kit number DM6033 will it work in the newer truck. Are the factory Ford puck system in a 6 3/4foot and a 8foot bed the same? I cant find the answer. And thank you in advance, E trailer always has the best prices , and great customer service! You can use your existing Demco 18K Hijacker auto-slide hitch in your 2015 Ford F-350 with the factory puck system in either of two ways.

One way is to use the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ford OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Packages, part # DM6175. This adapter drops into the factory pucks and then accepts the hitch. Do note this adapter raises the height of the hitch by 2-inches and it adds about 100-lbs to the whole hitch setup.

The better way to use this hitch in your new truck is the Replacement Side Plate kit # DM6033 that you mentioned. This kit offers lighter overall weight and also lower cost. This will work great in your factory puck setup since both bed lengths use the same system. These side plates will convert your existing 18K hitch to the Ford OEM version # DM8550024.
