Question:
I am getting a 2019 Subaru Ascent and from everything I can see, they do not have a builtin brake controller. So, I have been looking at the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller. Will this fit? and what wiring harness would I need to make the final connection to the vehicle?

You will have to hardwire the Curt Spectrum Brake Controller part # C51170 to your 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon but it is a pretty simple process. You will need to first start with a 4-way confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. For that you'd want the Tekonsha part # 118467 which is a plug and play style of install.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
